Solomon & Sheba is the story of a great king and queen who loved each other, and the political conflicts that beset them. It is also a masterly recreation of a distant day and time, based on one of the most provocative of Biblical stories.
When the dying King David named his son Solomon as his successor in place of the elder son, Adonijah, the wise and gentle Solomon knew that the Crown of David would be a heavy one. Not only would he have to contend with the bitter and ambitious Adonijah, but there were enemies without who sought to destroy the Israelites. Chief among these were Hadad the Edomite and Balkis, Queen of Sheba.
